How CV roasting works
- 1.Roast. We extract the text from your CV and an AI reviewer critiques each section: summary, experience, skills, and education. The jokes are sharp, but every one points at a specific line and a concrete fix.
- 2.Fix. Below the roast, click Fix My Resume. Resume Boost rewrites your summary and weakest bullet points, and lists three bigger structural changes. Your CV is not uploaded a second time.

CV or resume? Both work
In the UK and much of Europe, a CV is the standard document for most job applications. The roast treats it exactly like a US resume.
In US academia, medicine, and research, a curriculum vitae is a longer record of appointments, publications, teaching, grants, and service. The roast can still critique clarity and organization, but ignore any push to squeeze a twenty-year academic record onto one page.
What the CV roaster checks
Can the reader find your value quickly?
A job title and a list of duties are not enough. Strong entries show scale, context, and what changed because you were there.
Does the CV repeat itself?
Long CVs collect duplicate project descriptions, old coursework, and skills already shown elsewhere. The roast flags repetition it can see in the text.
Does the text survive extraction?
If a multi-column layout arrives in the wrong order, the tool sees the same scrambled text an applicant tracking system might. It cannot judge visual design.
CV conventions are local
Do not let a generic tool flatten useful local conventions. The UK's National Careers Service recommends clear headings, consistent formatting, and tailoring the CV to the advertised role. Europass similarly emphasises readable, role-relevant experience for European applications.
Before uploading
- Remove national ID numbers, full street addresses, and other details an employer does not need.
- Make sure text is selectable; scanned image-only files cannot be reviewed accurately.
- Use the version meant for one kind of role, not a master CV with every project you have ever touched.

Is the CV roast free?
Yes. The roast and the rewrites are both free. There is no payment or account; an email address is required to open the full result.
Does it work for UK and European CVs?
Yes. A UK or European job-search CV is reviewed the same way as a US resume: writing, evidence, organisation, and text readability.
Can I roast an academic CV?
Yes, but treat length advice with care. An academic CV is a longer record of publications, teaching, and grants, and should not be forced onto one or two pages.
Does it fix my CV or only roast it?

What happens to my CV?
The file is stored temporarily, its text is sent to our AI provider for the review, and the file is deleted when the request finishes. Read the privacy policy and methodology for the details and limits.
